My mother Anuja, 56 Years old as of today - started getting pain and cramps in her left leg almost 15 years ago. It was not severe earlier but slowly it started increasing and along with that back pain also started. We consulted few doctors, did MRIs and other few checks and they recommended some exercise & usage of lumber belt for relief, but it was temporary. We also tried acupuncture, acupressure techniques but it was again temporary relief and was of no use. The pain and cramps reached a stage where she had to sit for a while after walking 50-70 steps, also she was unable to stand straight for more than 2-3 minutes.
Then we consulted Spine Specialist Dr. Rahul Chaudhary in Giriraj Hospital Baramati. He verified the report and diagnosis was โDegenerative Scoliosisโ. He suggested us that there is need of spine operation for which we need DEXA scan (which gives report about strength of bones). We did DEXA scan in Hardikar Hospital Pune and then showed reports to Dr. Chaudhary in his Deccan Clinic. Based on scan & some other reports, Dr. Chaudhary had a word with my parents wherein My mother got convinced & agreed for operation by him. He gave us very good details which helped us decide about implant. He suggested spinal fixation. His team was also very supportive and Cooperative - they resolved all our queries time to time.
Finally, the operation day arrived. Operation took around 4 and half hours which was very complex but successful at Giriraj Hospital Baramati by Dr. Chaudhary. Post operative care was also good as He personally advised staff to take care of the patient. Within a week we got discharge after my mother became mobile (was able to walk few steps with help). Dr. Chaudhary advised for 3 months total rest and check-ups once a month where he checked Patients progress closely. He advised best medicines, supplements & small exercise for faster recovery. Now, we have started physiotherapy with his and Teams advice. My mother can walk 30-45 minutes two times a day now without any pain and cramps which is very pleasant result for us.
